Start with the exact symptom

No charging light, “plugged in” with no percentage increase, charging only at an angle, slow USB-C charging, and immediate shutdown when unplugged point toward different parts of the power path.

Adapters and USB-C are not interchangeable

A connector that fits may provide the wrong wattage or power-delivery profile. Test with a known-compatible adapter before concluding that the laptop or battery has failed.

A loose port can become board damage

Movement, heat, discoloration, or intermittent contact can indicate connector or solder damage. Continuing to force the plug may turn a replaceable port into a larger motherboard repair.

Back up before invasive repair

If the computer still operates, protect important data first. A technician can then test the adapter, battery health, port, firmware, and board input to identify whether repair is economical.
